The New Medicine

I was watching The New Medicine on PBS tonight and was struck with a strong feeling of THAT is what I want to do! The first hour of the show particularly appealed to me. I would like to be able to help people deal with the emotional and spiritual side of their illnesses. I was particularly impressed by the doctor who was helping a patient reduce his pain through guided meditation.

I still need to go the psychic route because I need to pay for the education to get the credentials to do the psychology work. The psychic work will be my bootstrapping to the next step. That was the plan all along. I wanted to earn money so that I could return to the University of Santa Monica and finish my master's degree in Spiritual Psychology. Now I have a better idea of what I'd like to do with that degree.

Some may wonder why I don't just fall back on my previous career to earn the money. I DO NOT want to be a computer programmer again. Well, maybe I would consider it as a support for the psychological work in a project directly related to it. Maybe. In the meantime I'd rather do the little pocket money jobs that I'm doing now to pay for the psychic development classes.

I have sitting downstairs a game that I have yet to install and try: The Journey to Wild Divine. It's a computer game that teaches meditation and incorporates biofeedback. Tomorrow morning's project will be to load it up and give it a try. I am so busy with my little pile of books, the Spiritual Weight Control project, and the Psychic Development classes at the Learning Light Foundation, but I think it's all starting to come together now. I think maybe I've found a purpose, and I have an idea about how I will get there. Now if I could just pace myself a bit better...

This is such a nice change from the first entry in this blog, don't you think?

Preparing to Hear

I was browing the Learning Light Foundation's newsletter and read about the event "Hearing God as an Actual Voice Within" with DavidPaul & Candace Doyle. The idea seems rather cool. Anne Reith, the instructor of my Psychic Development class, has said that channeling God is better than any drug. I imagine hearing God as a Voice within is pretty much the same thing. The Doyles have a website where you can sign up to receive 1o free mailings over the course of a month with links to audios of exercises for hearing the Voice of God. The Doyles also wrote a book: The Journey That Never Was: A Guide to Hearing God's Voice Regardless of One's Faith, Religion, or Personal Beliefs. Supposedly, it was inspired by A Course in Miracles. I figure the practice of hearing the Voice of God will be useful preparation for Psychic Development class the last Thursday of the month when we channel.

Hot Hands!

When I woke up this morning, my hands felt HOT as if they were on fire. This is so unusual for me. I usually struggle to keep my extremities warm, particularly when it is cool out. (It doesn't get cold here.) But this morning, my hands were hot. I had to take them out from under the covers to let them cool off. I'd been told in Reiki class that this would happen. At the time, I took a "we shall see" attitude about it. Even now in the early afternoon, my hands feel warm and even a bit tingly. I was also told that I would have vivid dreams. I'll say mine were vivid! I still remember what they were about this late in the day. I was told I could experience a number of physical and emotional symptoms over the next month as my body adjusts to the attunement. I'm hoping the hot hands are the worst of it.

Reiki I

I am now a Reiki I practitioner. Imagine that. Reiki works with the energy fields of the body. If you want to get an idea of what I'm talking about, try this:

Hold your hands in front of you about 3 feet apart. Now slowly bring them together. Pay attention to the sensations in your hands. As they get closer together, before they actually touch, you may feel something akin to electricity in the palms of your hands.

This energy that you feel is the type of energy that a Reiki practioner works with. The Reiki practitioner acts as a conduit for directing energy into a recipient and also for removing negative energy. All of this can be done without ever touching the recipient. I am told that Reiki cannot be used to harm but only heal.

Dominos

We read Dominos in Psychic Development class last night. I'm still rather rusty in my psychic intuition. I used to be better at this. It's been a while since I've done much with it.

The point of reading Dominos was that just about anything can be used as a psychic tool if the ground rules are set. One student suggested that even a TV can be used for readings. One poses a question and then changes channels until one feels it's right to stop. Something in the broadcast will give a clue as to the answer. If I do this, I'd probably have to close my eyes while changing channels so that I don't see the bar that says what's showing. Actually, I don't see myself reading the TV.

My favored tools are still Tarot and the I Ching with Runics coming right along. A pendulum is also handy for yes/no questions and verification of readings. I've been having some fun with my new Runics set. I've done a couple readings with it already. The first was on psychic ability. The gist of it was that I have potential to possibly make some money at it. My husband may have his doubts, but he may come around when he sees that the work makes me happy. My instructor reviewed the reading and thought I did a good job of it. I did a reading on the Star Princess (on which we're booked), but that reading hasn't been reviewed yet. As you may have heard, there was a fire and a fatality on the ship a couple nights ago. The ship looks ghastly. At this time, the cause appears to be a cigarette in one of the rooms. From the picture of the damaged ship, it appears that the cabin we booked is not in the burn zone. We're hoping we'll be able to sail when the time comes.

I'm looking forward to a Reiki I class this weekend. Supposedly, the class helps jumpstart psychic development. If so, this should help me get more out of the classes on Thursday nights.

Keeping Busy

I've been quite busy the last several days. On Thursday I started taking a Psychic Development class from Anne Reith at the Learning Light Foundation. The work gave me a headache! It's been a while since I've done any of this, so I've got some attunement to do. Friday I was doing a bit of work to help pay for the classes. Saturday I went to Anne Reith's Runes & Runics© class. Runics© is a system using multiple runes sets together with various crystals. In class we made a set of runes from wooden disks and a mat to cast them on. I bought a set of glass runes that the instructor had made. Since then I made a couple more sets of glass runes for myself and found 22 crystals to add to them to make a Runics© set. Those crystals in the picture are what I've added. I'm not too fond of the amethyst I've got in there. When I find a better one, I'll replace it. I'd like a better piece of amber, too, and maybe a different moonstone. For now, what I've got will do. Sunday I will be taking a Reiki 1 class. Supposedly, Reiki can help jumpstart psychic abilities. If so, it's probably better to take the class sooner rather than later.

In addition to all this, I've still been reading books for my spiritual weight control project. Of course that's been a little slower going with all the other activity going on.

Psychic Fair

I had a fun day today. I went to the Psychic Fair at Learning Light Foundation. I attended several free lectures. The lectures are short introductions to topics taught by the teachers in longer lectures and class series. I'm seriously thinking about taking classes again at Learning Light Foundation. Valerie Rogers shared her paintings and talked about her intuitive process. Anne Reith talked about her psychic history and gave pop readings from runes. Her class is general psychic development. Jade talked about reiki healing and did a very quick demo on me. I'd like to explore all these topics further. I also had a couple of readings done. The theme of the readings was change.

Expanding the Idea

I continue to read The Weigh Down Diet by Gwen Shamblin. The book is very distinctly Christian, but I don't think the concepts necessarily have to be approached from that perspective. Don't get me wrong--Christianity is a good and valid path; it just isn't the only way to approach God. I have a book in my library, Oneness: Great Principles Shared by All Religions by Jeffrey Moses, that quotes various world religions on various topics. Religions represented include Judaism, Christianity, Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism, Taoism, Jainism, Confucianism, Sikhism, Shintoism, and Sufism. There may be more now, maybe even quotes from my religion? (It isn't in my copy of the book, but it is on that wheel in the illustration.) My copy of the book was published in 1989. The latest edition was published in 2002; apparently it has been revised and expanded. I think it would be really cool if Gwen Shamblin's concepts on approaching and falling in love with God (which, in her book, is the core of how to feed the heart) could be expanded to include other religious and spiritual perspectives.
